Discovery Place

We had a great day uptown at Discovery Place last week. We could have stayed longer, but Jensen needed a nap. We met Jake, Beth and Wendy to play for a while. Jeremy came to play for a while and we also explored by ourselves for a while.

Haven loved the snake.

The girls played forever in this area. It was so sweet to watch them savor these last moments with each other before school starts.

swimming with friends

We have swam a lot of this summer. But we had special swimming visitors this past week. The Norketts came to the Y pool with us and it was so great to have our friends home.

Kindergarten, here we come!

Haven and Jovie packed all of their school supplies. They loved looking at all of the new stuff for their classrooms.

We had Haven's orientation on Friday. We met her teacher Mr. Bean, the assistant Mrs. Propst and many more people that work at her school.

Her classroom is pirate themed. Haven has a few friends in her class: Ben from church, Katelynn from cheerleading, and Ava and Trip from our neighborhood.

Haven wasn't thrilled about us getting her up early nor was she thrilled about us leaving her at school. She started her morning work and cried for a few minutes. Mr. Bean said she only cried for 30 seconds after we left.

We picked her up and she told us all about her day. She loved playing with the smartboard, learning about the centers in her class, reading her first book, and seeing other friends she knew around the school.

Yay for a great, first day!

Thinking about...

Here are some things that are constantly rolling around in my head. I just like to document things like this because this is our family scrapbook.

- our kids have changed so much this summer. Jensen is such a big kid now. It is amazing how much he can do at 1.5 years old. Haven only has 2 weeks before kindergarten. Jovie is just getting long and is totally a 3 year old. drama!

- this summer has been a blessing for me. i have enjoyed my kids and all our special little outings.

- wisdom teeth removal stinks. i am ready to feel 100% again. i have realized i am obsessive about putting my tongue in the holes. i hate it!

- i dreamed we had another baby boy and our pastor was the first person to meet him in the hospital with me, but i was walking around happy as a lark.

- i hate carpet. we are destroying this white carpet in our house. i try to clean spots and keep it vacuumed, but red stuff doesn't really come out. we need to start researching hardwood floors again because i would like a little different look than we had at our first house.

- if we change the floors, should we change anything else at the same time? extend the kitchen wall or add storage, paint the girls' room, etc.

- the essential oils we have added to our life seem to really work. so far we have used them for sore throats, bug bites, diffusing in the house, and i like it!

- spending time together as a family is so precious and needed for us. then when we get lots of time with extended family and friends it is just even better.

- the library storytime this summer has been so special. we have so many friends that we get to see every week. i love having so many special people in our lives. i guess i am like my daddy. i enjoy talking to people everywhere i go.

Summer Fun on Friday

We went to our local ice cream shop weeks ago, but i just got these pictures off my phone. Too cute!

We have had some wonderful summer days. Last Saturday, we went to the farmer's market, played on Rock Springs School's playground and then went to the new nature preserve park. We had the park to ourselves and it was so cool outside! They loved this spinning thing.

The playground was amazing. The walking trail was perfect for our age kids, but they really loved the amphitheater and put on shows for us.

We even thought the bathrooms were great. I would love to build a house with these elements one day.

This week we went to Zootastic with the Bradley family on Monday and had a great time petting goats. That is pretty much what we did the whole time. The donkey was loud, the tigers growled, and the birds squawked. It was an adventure and Chick-fil-a finished off our great day.

Tuesday, the kids and I attempted our first movie together. We lasted through the previews with our popcorn and then for about 35 minutes of the movie. So, we left and went to swim at the Y.

Wednesday, we went to the Y and then Discovery Place Kids. We had lunch at Lupie's and then played some more at DPK. The kids had so much fun. I love doing simple fun things with them that keep us busy. Jovie wanted me to take this picture of her. She kept coming out to show me different hats. I wish I had a video of Jensen dancing on the stage. He had the whole crowd laughing at his moves.

Yesterday, I had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled, so the kiddos went to play at the Bradley's for a while and then to Mint Hill for a few days. I am trying to rest and recover.
