sweet summertime

Our schedule has been different everyday with lots of fun memories being made. The last few weeks after I workout at the Y, we stay for a lunch picnic and swimming.

Last week, we went to Dan Nicholas park with the McSwains and Bradleys for the day. We swam at our neighbor's house. We went to the Nature Museum with the Bradleys.

We went to see fireworks at the high school on Friday night. They had lots of good music, vendors, and fun! It was neat to be at such a huge community event with our family.

sweet moments

Pop and Grammy kept the girls one night. Haven was snuggling with Pop on the couch.

Then Jovie snuggled with Haven.

Watching Jovie play is hilarious. She can pretend play for hours with her characters. Also, this is what our playroom looks like every few days. haha

Haven plays just as hard, but her favorite place has been the bathtub lately. At least it is getting some use!

1st Carowinds Trip!

Jeremy and I hadn't been to Carowinds in 15 years, but two weeks ago we took the kids for their first trip. We met my sister Wendy, Jake and Bethany and we had a blast! All schools were not out yet, so the crowd was pretty low. I didn't take many pictures because we were having too much fun!

We spent some time in Planet Snoopy riding lots of fun rides and getting dizzy on the balloons. The kids loved it and were really brave.

We spent a few hours in the waterpark and still didn't get to do everything. Jake and Jeremy rode one of the bigger rides and had fun. The girls love the splash pad areas and the small water float ride.

We ate dinner and then hit the rides again. The kids were so good and they were having a blast. We took 3 strollers so the kids didn't have to walk around the whole time. It was fun reminiscing about all the old rides and names of the rides.

We left the park when it closed and our kids surprised us and stayed awake the whole way home. They were wired as was their dad. Jeremy stayed up so late after having a huge rush on the Intimidator.

Nursery Update

I finally got up my nerve to try stenciling. I saw this birch tree stencil used in a playroom and thought it was so pretty. Stenciling was way more forgiving than I could have imagined. I would think I messed up and then I couldn't even tell if I did. I will definitely try it again. The walls were already off white, so I just painted over the stencil with a medium gray.

I love trees and although trees in nurseries were popular 6 years ago, I still love them. I love the natural aspect of the branches and bringing nature indoors. I love the scriptures that reference trees because they are full of strength and hope. I love having birch trees in this room because we had a birch tree right outside the window of the nursery at our old house. I also wanted to bring large mural-type artwork into this room since I left my beloved hand-painted tree mural at our old house.

This room is now freshened up and has some added dimension to such a tiny space.

Weekend in Mint Hill

The kids go to Mint Hill about every other weekend to visit with Jeremy's family. A few weekends ago, Jovie got her teeth cleaned by Meme for the first time! They look so pretty and shiny now!

They also got to go to Mint Hill Madness and they loved it!

Silly Sisters!

The kids and I drove to Ballantyne one day and visited Hall family farm. The kids were so excited to pick and eat lots of strawberries.

We got slushes and doughnuts, too.

It was hot, but the kids enjoyed the activities.

Two days later, we met our regular gang at Lineberger's for more strawberry picking!

Same drill for Jensen- pick and eat!

He is holding on so well on the big swings now!
