1st taste

Jensen had cereal for the first time on Saturday, April 20th. I don't even know if he really tasted it. He was in shock and a little annoyed. I don't think he was quite ready for it because he didn't even move his tongue around to experiment with it. It was pretty funny.

Friday night, Jeremy and I were out to eat and Jensen was fussy. He had already nursed and napped, so I gave him tiny pieces of my sweet potato. He acted like he really liked that, but then it all came back up pretty quickly. I don't think he is quite ready for solids, which is fine with me.

Servants With a Heart

On Saturday afternoon, we helped pack food for a Kids Against Hunger satellite called Servants with a Heart. We all had to wear hair nets, even sweet Jensen.

Haven was a great helper for about 1 hour and then she hit her limit. Our job was to make 3 x 6 x 2 stacks and then put all 36 bags in the boxes. It was fun!

From the website: The beauty of the food formulation is its simplicity. It is made from four readily available, dry ingredients that are easy to package, keep for long periods, and require only boiling with water to prepare. Despite the simplicity of the food's content, it is a nutritionally complex and well balanced meal.

Alpaca Shearing

This past Saturday we went to Good Karma Alpaca Farm for their spring shearing. The girls enjoyed exploring the farm. It was very chilly, but a nice activity for the fam.

take our picture

Jovie has finally fallen in love with her brother and the camera. She finally gives Jensen some attention. She also enjoys acting like she is taking pictures and saying cheese.

Jensen has officially become a swinger. I love it when babies can swing while we are outside. It makes outside play so much easier!

I have three kids playing on a playset! Unbelievable!

Last week, Haven found a dead bird in our back mulch area. Unfortunately, a lot of birds hit the windows around our house. Haven loves animals and she took very good care of this poor, little bird. She carried around, showed it off, talked to it, wanted to bath it, and then gave it back to the earth. Rest in Peace sweet bird.

She was trying to move her hair, but it looks like she was lifting the bird to the heavens.

sweet smiles

Jensen can be so fussy even when mom is holding him sometimes, but that sweet face melts our hearts!

Camping and 30

We went to Dan Nicholas Park on Friday, after the rain subsided, for a camping celebration for Lyndsey's 30th birthday!

After lunch, we headed to the fun area of the park. We saw this pretty, barn owl.

Then the girls had there picture made.

The playground was so fun!

Jensen and I were planning on sleeping in our tent alone to get some rest. haha! I had a bad headache at bedtime, but thought i could sleep it off. Jensen woke up a few times due to loud campground noises, screaming and barking dogs. At midnight, I decided to walk over to the other campsite to get some pain medicine because my head was pounding and Jensen was awake anyway. Unfortunately, we woke almost everyone up, but as soon as we were headed back to our site Jovie started puking. So I'm glad I was there. Jeremy and Jovie ended up sleeping on the comfy air mattress with me in the tent. She was pretty sick until Sunday. So, we left Haven to play after breakfast.

Jensen's first camping adventure!

Lyndsey's friend, Megan, brought Caroline with her. Haven and Jovie loved having a new friend to play with.

Birthday cupcakes for Lyndsey! Happy 30th!

Haven filled and decorted this box for Lundsey all by herself. She kept it closed by adding velcro dots all the way around. It was pretty inventive.

Poor, sick Jovie and her brave Daddy.

The big girls chatting by the fire.

These pictures are from Lyndsey and Lynne, documenting the fun!

They caught 2 fish!

Park Tour

Last week we went to three parks, actually four, but that is for the next post. This weather has been so nice, we just had to get outside for a while. On Monday, we hit up our local park with friends for a picnic lunch.

Then on Wednesday we went to Goat Island Park in Cramerton and Tuckaseegee park in Mt. Holly. Goat Island was a really natural park. Everything was wooden or rope. It was kind of like a ropes course for kids. Our girls couldn't do everything, but they enjoyed exploring. There is also a bike trail, disc golf course, and fishing areas.

We played with friends at Tuckaseegee Park and then ate a picnic dinner there. It is also on the water with a nice trail, courts, skate park, fields, and play areas.
