His Name

Jeremy, along with his grandfather, dad, and uncle all have the initials JPA. Jovie also ended up with the same initials; although, that wasn't on purpose. We decided that it was a nice tradition to carry on for our son. So, we knew we liked Jeremy's middle name Phillip. It also happens to be his grandfather's and uncle's as well. Then, we had to start thinking about J first names. Here's the problem, we already have all of these J names in our close family: Jeremy, Jeff, Josh, Jake, Jovie, Jack, Jonah, and Job. Also, Jeremy's uncle was John Phillip. He passed away in the spring.

So, we looked through the baby name books and looked up all J names on the internet. Nothing fit. One night, I told Jeremy we needed to come up with a first name for this baby and he told me a very interesting list of crazy names. Then he said he like Jensen and I really liked it. So, I started researching what it means and how to spell it and all of that stuff. We quickly found out that Jensen is a very popular Danish last name. It means son of Jens. Jens means John which means "God is gracious!" Well, that just sounded perfect. He is literally a son of 4 Johns. Two of my great-grandfather's first names were John. One other grandfather's middle name was Ivan, translated to John from Russian. Also, Jeremy's paternal grandfather was John. We also thought it will help us never forget Uncle John.

Obviously, we like names that are little different since we already have Haven and Jovie. We think Jensen fits in there perfectly. Plus, the girls say Jensen so cute!

9 years

I have packed this bag for 9 years for work. First, it was for my 4 years of teaching special education. I used it to carry most of my things as I worked on my master's degree in special education. Then I used it for my organizing business, HOPE for the home. For the last 5 years, I have used it to take my things to Shining Hope Farms. I have enjoyed all of the jobs I have had, but last Friday I cleaned my bag out for a while. With baby brother coming soon, we feel like I will have my hands full and I will need my full brain at home. I will miss the farm terribly, but I know we will be back to visit. I just have a few more days to work with the girl I am training, but I no longer need my bag of tricks. I can't believe I have worked for 9 years! Now on to the hardest full time job of all!

Haven's Big Night

Jeremy and I took Haven out Friday night by herself. First we went to Chuck E Cheese. She had a blast and we had fun too. I haven't played games in a long time. We were all getting a little competitive. She loved getting the tickets and she really loved her cup of coins. It was a lot of fun.

We loved watching her on the screen at the top while she did this game. It took her on a jet pack ride and a roller coaster. The seat was moving too, so it was fun to watch her expressions change.

After seeing Chuck E., we went to an outdoor movie in our area. This was a first for her as well. She was so excited to see all of the people and all of the trucks selling food.

The movie was The Lorax and it was really cute. We all enjoyed it and Haven stayed up until after 10pm which doesn't ever happen on purpose.

It was so fun to have her to ourselves without a sibling. It was fun to talk to her and really be able to listen. It was also great to allow her to do what she wanted without having to make changes for Jovie. We had a great time.

Lazy 5 Ranch

Last Wednesday, we met some of our friends from college at Lazy 5 Ranch. Jeremy, Wendy, and I took Jake when he was almost 2, but that was the only time we have been. All of the girls loved along with others in our 20 person group. Anna, Amy, and Dawn lived on our hall in college and we all went to BSU together, plus I was a NC Teaching Fellow with them. Now we all have at least 2 kids and it is fun to see the group grow.

We took the wagon ride through the animals and we got up close and personal with most of the animals.

Dawn and some of the kids.

Amy, Dawn, and their kids

Wendy, her kids, Anna's sister and her kids, Anna's kids

Jeremy and Haven. She was a little concerned about the close proximity with the animals.

Little piglets were so cute.

Water buffalo

Jovie wanted to eat the animal feed. yuck

Jeremy and the giraffes

Haven loved feeding the baby giraffe.

This one was diving in for the attack on the food bowl. Haven wasn't happy.

I thought they looked so pretty sitting on a hill.

Haven wasn't going to turn around and look at that tongue.

Haven believed that this was the missing bird from Wilora Lake Retirement Center. She was so happy that it found a new home at Lazy 5.

My sister took these pictures of our family and a lot more are on her blog .

We finished the day with a party of 20 for lunch at Cracker Barrel. It doesn't get much better than that.

Jovie's first haircut

Jovie has the dreaded baby mullet. Her hair is finally growing and thickening on top, but the middle is long and one length. Then she has another beautiful short layer at her neck hairline. I'm not sure how it is going to turn out in the long run. She may end up with a bob like Haven until the top grows out more.

I tried to trim up her middle layer in order to bridge the gap between the top short hair and the bottom long hair. I think it just made it a little more wispy and light around the middle. I still may have to trim the bottom length, because stringy mullet gets on my nerves.  haha

Jovie's New Room

Well, Jovie got booted out of the nursery since baby brother will be here in a few months. We moved her upstairs to the room with no closet. There will be another piece of furniture added when we either get it painted or cleaned up better. It has some drawers and an area for hanging a few clothes, but right now her clothes are downstairs with Haven's in the nursery.

We brought up some decorations from the nursery including the chair for now. We bought a new lampshade and shelf from Ikea and borrowed the crib from my sister.

I still love her letters from Anthropologie.

I printed the NC print off from a site a found on pinterest. There is a heart over the Charlotte area with a $2 frame from Ikea. Her special preemie baby doll is up on this shelf for safe keeping.

We bought the duvet and picture from Ikea and used a frame we already had. We also brought up the curtains and growth chart from the nursery.

I used cross stitch hoops and fabric scraps that I already had to fill this blank wall.

I really wanted to paint this room, but I didn't have a color that I was just dying to paint. Also, we are thinking that the girls may share this room in the next year, so I would rather paint and get it ready for them when I have a really good plan in place.

This chair will be moved out when we get the other piece of furniture ready.

She has been napping and sleeping well in her new room. The girls love playing in here and it the brightest yet coolest room in our house.

The Little Gym, The second time around

Jovie started at The Little Gym last month in the birds class. She is loving it and I love it too. I know she enjoys having some time with just momma and I love watching her explore. She can already hang from a bar and almost do a forward roll on the cheese by herself. So far, the balls are her favorite part of the class with the balance beam with bars along the sides coming in a close second. It isn't a cheap activity, but I feel like it was very worth the money for Haven and already see the benefits for Jovie too.
