Jovie's 1st Birthday Party

Jovie has had a few fevers, lots of snots, and a pretty yucky cough the last 2 weeks. However, she had a great birthday. We started off the celebrations with a trip to Tony's Ice Cream. That was the last place we went before we went to the hospital to have Jovie. She had her first taste of ice cream and definitely wanted more.

On Thursday, we played at the park with cousins! That was a fun birthday treat. Haven, Job, Jonah, and Jovie.

Friday night, we had a party with our friends and family. Haven loved having everybody over. She was so excited! Jovie hadn't napped well that day, but still seemed to enjoy her party. She really loved her cake.

The birthday girl!

I made these owl cupcakes for all of the kids.

Jovie's personal cake!

The rest of the cake! Jovie's cake came out of the big heart cake. I got all of the cake/cupcake ideas on pinterest.

Here are three of the pictures my sister took. I am sure she has more that I will post later when I get them.

Jovie is 1!

Aunt Lyndsey made this cute collage of Jovie's birthday party. I will do a full post on her birthday later. We had a great day yesterday! We are praising God for a happy, healthy 1 year old!

mommy tricks

I have run into a few issues being a mother of 2, but I found simple solutions so I thought I would share.

We moved Haven upstairs before Jovie was born and I starting realizing that I was running up and down the stairs all day to get clothes and shoes. So, I moved all of the girls' current shoes and clothes in a centralized location. Right now, all of their clothes are in Jovie's closet (downstairs), the coats are on the back of her door in the hallway, and shoes are in the laundry room just a few doors away. All of these rooms are on the same hallway as the garage door. I know this probably only works because of the layout of our house, but it is perfect.

All of their out-of-season clothes are upstairs in Haven's closet. I just switch them out every now and then. I love doing that! I know, I'm a nerd. Laundry is easier because I only go to 2 closets instead of 3 (me/Jeremy and Haven/Jovie).

Haven clothes are on the left, Jovie's on the right, and any matching outfits on the bottom.

Our vacuum isn't great, so the accessory arm thingy doesn't work hardly at all. I also enjoying cleaning up my car regularly, so I wanted something that could do double duty for the small messes in life.

I bought the Black and Decker Flex vacuum sometime last year and it has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. It can suck up anything. I use it to clean my car, to suck up things my vacuum cleaner won't, and for quick clean-ups of just about anything. I would highly recommend this small vacuum.

Valentine's Day

We had a nice "love" day. Jeremy and I went to The Melting Pot on Friday night. Thanks to Aunt Lyndsey for the keeping the girls and getting them to bed! We had a great time, the food was delicious, and afterward we got to visit with some friends from college and played Bunko for the first time. It was so much fun.

On Valentine's day, Haven had a pizza party at preschool and she was so excited to take her goody bags to school to share. She really wanted to keep them for herself, but realized that her friends were going to bring her things in return. She said she needed 5 hands instead of 2 to carry it all.

On the way to school she saw all of the decorations/booths/hearts on the sides of the road and said, "A heart, mama! That means love." So sweet.

Jeremy brought the three of us girls each a gerbera daisy. He also got me an awesome stash of Kerr's mints. My very favorite of all time and a book. He will be getting a new drum case in the mail soon from me.

We have some rough days around our house with these girls, especially naptime and nighttime, but there is also so much love. We are thankful for God's love for us and that he gives us so many other people to love as well.

New skills

Jovie learned to climb all the way up the stairs last week. That is all she wants to do. She even cried when she saw the gate up. The only problem is that she doesn't know the safe way to come down yet.

Jovie will be 1 at the end of next week. I can't believe I am already filling out her last page in her baby book. WOW! This year went fast.

the last few weeks

Haven's had a cold/ear infection the last week. At this point, I don't really know what all we have done. Preschool, playing everyone in the house, sitting around waiting for people to come finish the bonus room (STILL NOT DONE!), celebrating both grandmother's birthdays.

It really is difficult to get a good picture of 2 children.

Haven took this picture of Jovie and I. She has enjoyed using her kiddie camera and my camera.

Jeremy introduced Haven to Pacman last week. She loved it, but needed a little help.

Sweet girls reading together.

Outside!

For the past week we have played outside for hours on end! It has been wonderful. The weather has been sunny and fairly warm for January/February. I have enjoyed it just as much as the girls. We have taken walks/rides, visited the park 3 times, had a picnic, and made the world's largest hop scotch game.
