I just finished Beth Moore's new book, "So Long Insecurity..you've been a bad friend to us." It took me a while to read it. It wasn't one of those books that I have to finish in one sitting, most self-help books take me a while. However, the theme is still resonating with me. I learned a lot about myself and others.
Here are a few key verses from the book that I printed out and point on my bathroom mirror:
- She will have no fear of bad news; her heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord, her heart is secure, she will have no fear; in the end she will look in triumph on her foes. Psalm 112:7-8
- Do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded. You need it to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36
- I am clothed with strength and dignity, I can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25
- the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival. Galatians 5:21 (The Message)I have been trying to watch myself and see where my insecurities lie and I think I found them. Beth says to pay attention to the things you say about others and that will show you where you may be insecure.
I also loved the part where she said that her daughter realized that she had a lot of junk to deal with so that her little girl won't have to deal with it. I feel the same way. I want Haven to find her security in Jesus, not this world.
I think it is a good read for any woman or man. I have only done one Beth Moore study, so this was just my 2nd time reading her writing, but I enjoyed her examples and straight forward words.
