Thanksgiving 2010

We started our Thanksgiving festivities by watching the Macy's parade at home and Haven loved the Elmo float and Mickey Mouse balloon. Then we went to eat at the Bradham's. We had lots of yummy food and it sounded like the sweet potatoes were everyone's favorite.

Next year, our picture will have one more little girl. She will be sitting up by then and maybe even crawling. That is hard to believe.

Then we ventured over to the Andler's and ate more yummy food there. We also celebrated the "turning on of the Christmas lights." Haven was thrilled and wanted to check every bulb out. She definitely is much more aware of the decorations this year already.

Uncle John came for a visit and Haven enjoyed playing with him.

Haven was running through the Christmas trees. She already seems to love the holidays as much as we do!

Baby Sister Jovie

Jovie had her first baby shower at Shining Hope Farms (Holly's job) last week. It was so nice and she got some nice presents. Elizabeth is having a baby in February so we had a double shower.

We had an appt today at Maternal Fetal Medicine and had a thorough ultrasound. Everything was perfect, but Jovie likes to be in a little ball. She has room to stretch out, but I think she is practicing her defense mechanisms that she will definitely need as the baby sister and baby cousin.

Her lips look a lot puffier than Haven's. We can't wait to see her sweet face in person.
She was also sucking on her fingers.

Her name comes from the word jovial, meaning cheerful, friendly, good humored. We loved it the first time we heard it on the movie, Elf. We figured her name can be jolly even though she won't be born in December like the rest of us. It also has 5 letters and a v like Haven. We are still working on the middle name, but feel like Jovie is the perfect name for this little girl. She has already brought so much joy to our hearts especially the other night when Jeremy felt her kick for the first time.

And not to leave big sister out, here is a picture of Haven, Daddy, and Elmo playing their favorite game, Pillows. Jake taught her this game that you play on the bed. There are no rules, just lots of fun with pillows and jumping.

Christmas Cards

I wasn't going to do Christmas card this year. I love getting them in the mail, but I just didn't really want to think about it this year, but then I saw that Shutterfly was giving away some and that they were super cute. Last year, I cut out all of the cute picture cards we got and left them on the fridge for about 6-8 months, so that Haven could see her friends and so we could think about them throughout the year. I also love to recycle Christmas cards as tags for presents the next year. Shutterfly always has super fast shipping and the things I have ordered have always been nice. So here are my favorite things they have this year.

This one is super cute and I love that it has the word Noel front and center. Haven has my middle name of Noel.

This card takes the "Christmas Family Update Letter" to a new level.

My friend Bonnie, always gives her mom a wall calendar like this one as a Christmas gift. What a great way to see favorite pictures throughout the year.

My favorite card by far is this one. I love to see the names of Christ and what he has done for us.

silly girl

As I have said before, Haven has crazy bedhead. Here are two more pictures as proof.

She is in the phase of always saying "cheese" with the harshest expression possible when we take pictures of her. Last night, I finally got a cute picture without her furrowed brow and teeth clenched.
See what I mean?

Daraja Children's Choir of Africa

We had this amazing group of people stay with us the past two nights. Abbu, Grace, Talie, Faith, and Betty were a blessing to us and wonderful house guests. Talie and Haven had so much fun playing together. Haven asked where they were as soon as she woke up both mornings. She was even a little sad to see their bus leave this morning, as were we.

The choir performed at our church last night to a packed out crowd. My favorite song was definitely "Jesus Paid it All." To see them smiling with joy and raising their hands was tear inducing. They live so differently than we do, but we have HOPE in common.

We had a fun Halloween party at the Bradley's Saturday night. The kids were all so cute and looked so grown up compared to last year. The guys set up a fun haybale maze and we took a hayride.

We dressed up as a gnome family on Sunday night for our small group party at the Bishop's. It was amazing to see how trick-or-treating works in a huge neighborhood. Kids were everywhere and adults were having a lot of fun. Jeremy enjoyed standing in the Bishop's yard as a garden ornament.

Shriner's Circus, Cabarrus Arena

We went to the Shriner's Circus on Saturday morning and had a good time. Haven loved seeing all of the kids in the audience, the animals, and the lights. The only thing she didn't like was when the clowns fell down. She thought they were hurt, so she kind of cried. It was a small circus, but a lot of fun. We stayed about 1.5 hours and then decided that was probably enough, plus we had Ella Malone's party after that. I think it was the right size circus for her age and we could see everything pretty good. I don't think she is quite ready for the big circus unless we had really good seats.

Jeremy thought this lion tamer was pretty funny.
