You have to be pretty sick to sleep on the closet floor. Haven has had a fever with a few other symptoms since Friday morning. So we haven't been doing much at all.

I love looking at crafty blogs and checking out all of the cool tutorials. This week I did a few projects and they all turned out pretty well.

I made a tie onesie for our new cousin, Quinn.

I used one of Haven's onesies to explore the use of the amazing Clorox pen and freezer paper stenciling. The shark is Jeremy's logo for web design.

My biggest success was making a dress for Haven using a pattern. This was my first time sewing with a pattern and it was hard. The directions were not clear on a few parts of the dress, so I kind of made it up if I didn't understand what the pattern was telling me to do. Patterns are like a whole new language. I had no clue, so my mom gave me some pointers. I also used the freezer paper to cut out my pattern, so that I can use it in the future for bigger sizes.

so long insecurity

I just finished Beth Moore's new book, "So Long've been a bad friend to us." It took me a while to read it. It wasn't one of those books that I have to finish in one sitting, most self-help books take me a while. However, the theme is still resonating with me. I learned a lot about myself and others.

Here are a few key verses from the book that I printed out and point on my bathroom mirror:

- She will have no fear of bad news; her heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord, her heart is secure, she will have no fear; in the end she will look in triumph on her foes. Psalm 112:7-8

- Do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded. You need it to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36

- I am clothed with strength and dignity, I can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25

- the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival. Galatians 5:21 (The Message)

I have been trying to watch myself and see where my insecurities lie and I think I found them. Beth says to pay attention to the things you say about others and that will show you where you may be insecure.

I also loved the part where she said that her daughter realized that she had a lot of junk to deal with so that her little girl won't have to deal with it. I feel the same way. I want Haven to find her security in Jesus, not this world.

I think it is a good read for any woman or man. I have only done one Beth Moore study, so this was just my 2nd time reading her writing, but I enjoyed her examples and straight forward words.

May has been messy

This week:

- Haven has been feeding herself breakfast and it gets kind of messy.

- Jobe and Jonah were born. They are dearly loved already.

- Holly made a bad mistake of thinking she could travel to and from work on a bike. It didn't work out so well. Like, her father-in-law had to pick her up.

- Haven spent her first night away from her Momma.

- Jeremy's depression is setting in because Lost will be over in 2 days.

First cousins once removed are popping out everywhere!

Quinn Thomas was born last month in Panama City. We are so happy for Chris, Christina, and Sidney. We sure hope we get to meet Quinn soon.

Jobe Emory and Jonah Mattison were born today to Jack and Mary. Isabella is going to be such a great big sister.

We feel so blessed to have 3 new boys to love!

Me and The Nester are BFFs

Well, not really, but I did go to her house. Taylor and I went to a Blessings Unlimited party at Nester's house and had a blast. I also saw Laura there. We went to college together and see each other at random times/places.

Laura, The Nester, and I in her newly redecorated office.

Nester's house is even more beautiful than it looks in pictures and she is even sweeter than she writes.

I got these blocks at the party. They are in Haven's room at the present because they match so well, but I am sure I will pull them out into other parts of the house throughout the year.

Last Thursday, we drove up to the Boone area to camp with Jeremy's family. We stayed at Honey Bear Campground and had a good time. We visited the Mast General Store, Dan'l Boone Restaurant, and the new Boone Urgent Care. Haven had a gooky cold and we decided it was best to get some medicine for her. We also spent one night in our car and the other in a hotel. Haven didn't want to sleep in the pop-up or in a pack n play. Even with a few unexpected adventures, a weekend with family is still a lot of fun.

Haven got to spend some time with Aunt Lyndsey.

Jeremy enjoying his time at the Urgent Care.

Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day. Jeremy and Haven gave me beautiful wind chimes and a windmill. I had been wanting chimes since our neighbors moved and took their chimes with them. The key of A sounds beautiful. Thanks J for being so thoughtful!

I love being a mom. Everyday I am learning more about myself and Haven. I think we are a great pair. She makes me feel so blessed. I know that our future child(ren) will make me feel even more blessed. Jeremy is a great partner and makes motherhood a little less challenging. Plus, we are surrounded by amazing mothers that give great advice and support. I think I found the job that makes my heart smile.

Beach with the girls and one sweet boy

Haven and I had a great time at the beach last week with Grammy, Wendy, Jake, and Bethany. The kids played so well together and loved the beach. Jake and Wendy dug canals and pools for the babies to play in. We also went to the park a few times and the girls loved swinging and sliding. Jake was such a good sport and played with them so well. We missed Daddy and were glad to see him when we got home.

Aunt Wendy gave Haven a cute ponytail.

He's a beach bum for sure.

They fed pigeons.

Our feet.

They swung.

We took a trip on the ferry over to the aquarium.

They watched fish, sharks, and scubadivers.

Louisa got a shoulder ride on the way home!

Last Weekend

Haven and I went to the beach this week with Grammy, Wendy, Jake and Bethany. I will leave those pictures for the next post, but here is what we were up to last weekend.

Haven snorting, I mean, coloring.

Haven smooshing her nose with the cute sunglasses from UJ.

Haven riding her scooter/segway, wearing her super cute Starbucks onesie from Aunt Lyndsey. UPS delivered this one year late, but it still fits. Imagine that.

Haven in her princess attire at the NICU Reunion. It wasn't that wrinkly until the car ride and her shoes were tied at some point. I made the dress using preshirred material. So cute. We got to see a few of our nurses and some of our friends that were in the Presby NICU.
