Old friends in Winston-Salem

Lee and Amy on the screen.

Last night, we went to Calvary Baptist in Winston for Jeremy to play drums. The church was celebrating Lee and Amy's first anniversary on staff there and they had some of Lee's friends come and do the music for the service last night. They had a reception for them afterward that was really nice. They were given a few presents, one being a goat. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy.

Their new goat.

Haven met the sweet little, girl goat.

We are praying for Amy and their family over the next few months of chemo, radiation, and therapy. We know that God has a grand plan for all of this.

We also got to hear Dr. Gary Chapman speak last night. It was incredible and he talked to us a few times. I felt like I was meeting a star. He wrote "The Five Love Languages." I meant to take my book for an autograph, but forgot. He is on staff at that church and they are so blessed to have him.

Dr. Gary Chapman speaking on being a caring person.

The band playing. Jeremy was in the drum box, so I couldn't see him from the back of the church.

Spilt Milk

You know the saying, "Don't cry over spilt milk." Well, I have so many times. Maybe I haven't literally cried tears, but I have cursed the bottle and milk storage bag companies. I have fake cried for sure, you know that nice whine that gets your husband to say, "What's wrong?" This has happened so many times over the past almost 9 months.

I just wanted to document this because I can almost laugh now when I spill a little and Jeremy says, "Don't cry over spilt milk." Just let me tell you though, that when you have worked hard for the baby's milk it is upsetting when it splatters all over the counter, wall, and floor.

I looked up the origin of this saying, but couldn't really find anything. All of my searches just said that it means to look on the bright side when something happens you can't control.

This is me pitching a fit :)

Tooth #2

Haven's second tooth (bottom, left, middle) broke through today. My goal this weekend is to get a picture of them.

Do I deserve an award?

Remember this post.

After 8.5 months and some, the day has finally come. I am packing up my best friend, the pump. She came into my life earlier than I expected and stayed a lot longer than I expected, but she treated me well. We worked hard together to make Haven strong and stored up lots of milk for many babies to use in NICUs around North Carolina and filled our own freezer here at home. She was a good friend, morning, noon, and night and all of the other times in between. The sad thing is I won't miss her. She did her job and now the time has come to be packed up, to return again we do not know.

I know many people breastfeed and pump longer than me, but I am celebrating today and I feel like I won a huge crystal trophy. Jeremy and I love making fake certificates, so maybe I will just make my own certificate signed by the president of the La Leche League International! Haha

Thanks Pumpy, you did a great job!

Finishing Touch

Uncle Josh made Haven this wonderful dollhouse bookshelf. He did a wonderful job building it from pictures I sent him and then I painted it to match her room. I think she will love having this for years to come. Right now it will hold books and few a toys and then in a few years we can buy all of the dollhouse accessories for it. She is one lucky girl!

It even has a little door stoop. So cute.

The Week in Pictures

Me and my girl
Cute bloomers from Aunt Wendy.
How are you supposed to change a diaper like this?
She's trying so hard to crawl.
New hat?

This is what happens when you try to take a picture of one little tooth.

The lady at "Sew Much Fun" made me feel guilty when she asked me if I had made Haven any clothes yet. So here is my first attempt at making Haven an outfit.

Can you find Haven?

Waking up from a nap

Haven gets so excited when we get her up from a nap. So, I thought I would try to capture the sweetness. She also normally performs many tricks right after a good rest, so I caught some of those too.

Eight great months

Here's our girl in action. She rarely sits still.

Haven is 8 months old today. We took a few pictures and wrote in her baby book all of the great things she is doing. She loves to talk and make noises. Mama, baba, hata, and screaming are a just a few of the sounds she loves. She can sit up for seconds at a time all by herself. She is getting better everyday. She is full of smiles most of the time and is eating stage 1 foods very well. Well, except for the turkey/broth, she threw that up today. Yuck. She rolls all over the floor and loves to clap her hands. We also realized that she makes a funny yell when she wants our attention. Even when one of us is upstairs on the computer she will look up at the loft and yell until we look at her. For her adjusted age, she is doing so well. She is definitely ahead of the 6 months adjusted age, but not doing everything an 8 month old does. We are so proud of her and thankful to God for blessing her.

So sweet watching her daddy.

Sitting up all by herself (and then she fell over).

She was making a silly face and a funny sniffing noise.

So sweet

Haven and I babysat Bethany yesterday and they had fun playing with each other. It is so sweet when they look at each other and smile. I will try to post a video later.

Here's Haven knocked out with Jeremy. She doesn't do this too much anymore. It was so sweet and she looked so big.

First Tooth

Haven grabbed my finger and put it in her mouth this morning and I felt her first tooth poking through. It is the bottom right one. She is going to be so cute with teeth. She is taking a long nap right now, so I guess it is hard work to grow teeth.
