Haven received a gift in the mail the other day from Amber. We love the handmade owl and the camel shirt will be so cute. Thanks! More pictures from our fun staycation this week. We will miss Daddy being home with us next week. I can't get videos to post for some reason. Maybe another day.

Jeremy has been on a staycation this week. We decided to come home from the beach Sunday and then he has just been at home with us this week. We have been having a great time relaxing and enjoying each other.

Haven and I spent the last week at Oak Island. It was a great trip. The first part of the week we were there with my mom, sister, niece, and nephew. Then Jeremy came later in the week. Mom and Wendy have the beach pictures on their cameras, but here are a few I took throughout the week.

Haven wasn't interested.

Jake the beach boy.

This picture is for Amber, who introduced me to the beauty of Oak Island.

The beach bums at the fishing park near 14th NE.

Sweet cousins in their lemon attire.

Haven, the name

Haven and I have been at the beach this week with Grammy, Wendy, Jake and Bethany. Jeremy got here last night with the laptop! Just kidding, Jeremy got here last night and I was so excited to see him. Haven was already asleep, but I think she knows he is here because she went down easier and is still asleep. It is 8:30am and the past few nights she has gotten up in the middle of night, which is so unlike her normal sleeping pattern. I will post more about the beach trip later with pictures.

The past few days I have seen the name Haven twice and just wanted to document it. I first saw the name about this time last year on a baby show on The Discovery Channel. However, it was a baby boy. But it went on the girl list. This week while at the beach I have watched Bravo a little bit and the new show The Fashion Show has been on. There a contestant on there named Haven. It kind of caught me off guard to hear it on tv, so I looked it up. Her name is Haven and she is from Tennessee. She is a fashion designer and she may be a diva. Then this morning while pumping and surfing the blog world, I saw a post on Mckmama's blog ( and she posted her favorite baby names. The second one was Haven. It made me smile. She obviously likes unusual names based on the rest of her list. I just thought it was interesting to see the name Haven in the public eye.

I love my Haven! She is growing so fast. I have a great video to post when we get home.

1st Mother's Day

What a special day! Baby Bethany was dedicated today, so we got to go to church with my whole family at Lucia Baptist. Haven is such a sweet daughter. I can't believe that I am a mom. I love it. Haven and Daddy gave me a blue iPod nano. I know it is a little past due, but our new car has the plug for one and now I need my music and Haven's music accessible. I think I will enjoy it.

5 Months Old!

Haven is 5 months old. She puts her hands in her mouth constantly and brings everything else to her mouth that she can grab. She can sit up in her little chair for a few minutes and look around the room. She kicks, coos, and smiles constantly. She sleeps 10-12 hours every night and takes 2-3 naps a day. She holds her head up really well during tummy time and enjoys looking at her mailbox toy that has little smiley faces on all of the parts. Haven isn't very still in our arms anymore. She likes to sit forward and look around. She isn't a newborn anymore. We are having so much fun.

Daddy's Girl

Haven is definitely her daddy's girl. He gets her ready for bed at night and she always gives him huge smiles when he gets home in the afternoon. Everyone thinks she looks like him even people we don't know well. They are so cute together.

Fun times

We had an eventful weekend. On Saturday morning I ran my 2nd 5K post-pregnancy. The weather was perfect, the course was fun, and I felt great. I just wish Wendy could have ran with me, but she came to cheer me on.

Saturday at lunch time, we went to our first NICU/ICN (they are interchangeable) picnic. Every year, Presbyterian hosts a picnic with games and food for preemie graduates and their families. We saw our nurse, Erica, that was in the operating room with us when Haven was born. We also saw two babies that were in there with Haven and then a few friends from the past that have preemie graduates as well. So, it was a nice experience.

On Sunday, we had Haven's dedication ceremony at Wilora Lake where Jeremy's dad preaches. We dedicated her back to God the day we found out we were pregnant and every day since then. But we had the traditional, public dedication just to say that Jeremy and I will teach her about God and do our best to raise her to love him.

In this picture, Haven is wearing the dress that Wendy and I wore when we were dedicated 30 and 28 years ago.

Bethany, Haven, Stella, and Jake. So sweet!

Big growth week

This week Haven really slept a lot and ate a lot. We are thinking she was fueling up to start all of these new skills. She is a really hard and fast kicker now. She can rock herself like a crazy girl in the bouncy seat. She has also really starting talking this week. She will do it to me and Jeremy when we are nice, quiet, and staring at her. She also woke up first thing this morning talking to her owl mobile. I caught her on video today at lunch time in conversation while she was supposed to be taking a nap.
